Christmas and Credit Card: Tips for Proper Use

Posted by admin on Dec 16, 2010

Today, credit cards (bank or stores) obtained with increasing ease, and are so integrated in our daily lives. We often do not think twice before taking our card from wallet to pay what we're consuming.

But with the end of the year, and the expense involved, it is advisable to stop for a minute to think about what is best for our pocket. What is good for our financial planning. Is it really the credit card our best option?

And we all know that ultimately it is best to always pay cash.

For that reason, it may be more convenient to calculate approximately how much money you need for your year-end spending. Thus, not only can take advantage of discounts that can be found by the cash payment, but, at the end of the month only have to pay a single fee, a value already known and the important is that will save you more money than if you pay with one or more cards for every purchase you need to do.

Whether you choose to pay by credit card, here I give you some tips for year-end:

1. Completely analyzed your family situation: is it really necessary to borrow, or can meet the needs of year-end adjusting a bit to cover expenses with monthly household income?

2. If you're going to take a credit, analyze your financial situation to ensure that your family’s income are sufficient to pay the debt.

3. Study the payment terms and fees, and calculate exactly what will be the final total paying. So you know exactly what the difference between what you ordered and what they pay.

4. Make sure you can pay more than the minimum monthly fee, as this usually covers just a little more than administrative costs and interest, leaving the debt almost intact.

5. If you do not understand what you are charging (which often add extra costs to the monthly payment), do not take the credit. It is better to choose other forms of payment or debt, before getting into a mess you do not understand anything.

6. Listed, do not stay with the first offer you make. Ask to give all credit information on paper, visit other institutions, and then compare and choose the best option in the comfort of your home.

7. Do not stay only in the banks, other institutions often (Compensation Funds, Insurance Companies or Credit Unions) may offer better options.

And do not forget to check the lists of gifts that will appear this week, with ideas for this Christmas gift :)
